Books are absolutely ESSENTIAL for my happiness. If you know me well at all, you know that I’m a MAJOR (x 12741) book lover. I’m especially a fan of books that help me cultivate more mindfulness and positivity in my life. Because all of my close friends and family know this about me, I’ve received copious amounts of these types of books over the years and have also added to my collection on my own!
I’ve decided to round up all of my absolute favorite books that I’ve accumulated throughout the years- ones that are sure to arouse the creative part of you and bring more happiness, peace, and joy into your life. These books have played a huge role in my life because they’ve helped me have a better sense of who I am and what my purpose is. A few of them are full of activities and prompts that have directly affected my overall sense of wellbeing and confidence. I can’t wait for you to delve into them and have the same results!
So, here they are! I hope you enjoy!
The Little Book of Mindfulness by Dr. Patricia Collard
This is the perfect book for anyone who gets overwhelmed easily (or just overwhelmed at all). It’s saved me time and time again when I’m feeling stressed and need a little break to ground myself and start feeling better again. “In just five or ten minutes a day, you can learn to “let go of stress, anxiety, and procrastination, and ultimately find your pathway to more energy, joy, and better living.”
This Time Next Year by Cynthia Scher
I found this book at a cute little book store & was so pleased to see that it’s on Amazon so that I can share it with all of you! I’ve tried out quite a few “fill-in-the” blank type creativity books, but this one is by far my favorite. It has great writing prompts, creative activities (like collages and drawing challenges), and other activities that will help you get to know yourself better, inspire creativity, and increase your self-awareness!
Start Where You Are: A Journal For Self-Exploration by Meera Lee Patel
This book is designed to help you explore yourself, your creativity, and your passions. It’s chock-full of encouraging quotes and beautiful illustrations. It guides you along with inspirational prompts and exercises to encourage you to get to know yourself better. This book has really helped me become more aware of what I’m truly passionate about and what matters most to me, which has had a significant positive impact on my life. It also always inspires me to create and live my life to the fullest.
A Flow Book: A Book That Takes Its Time by Smit and Irene Smit and Astrid van der Hulst
If you’ve read any of my blog posts, you’ll know that I’m a GINORMOUS fan of this book. It’s full of AMAZING articles about wellness and creativity, stickers, little books (yes, little books inside the bigger book!), poetry, stunning illustrations, and impeccable advice that will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Every time I open this book I’m in awe of every page and incredibly grateful that people took the time and effort to put it together. I HIGHLY recommend this book! (Also, it’s definitely worth the price- once you see it, you’ll wonder how they even priced it that low because it’s full of so much greatness.)
The 52 Lists Project by Moorea Seal
If you you’re a fan of making lists, you’ll absolutely love this book! It’s beautifully designed, has incredible list-making prompts, and it even goes beyond list-making by inspiring you to take action in your life. It’s one thing to make lists about what makes you happy, what you want from your life, etc., but it’s even more important to actually DO something to get what you want from life. List-making is a great way to cultivate mindfulness, discover yourself, and create a life you love. This book will drastically improve your life.
Where Will You Be Five Years From Today? by Dan Zadra
This book is perfect for creative entrepreneurs who have decided to pursue their dreams. It’s all about living a life that you choose instead of doing things simply to live up to others expectations. It will help you define your goals and mission statement and set actionable goals that will get you where you want to be in 5 years. The main goal of this book is to help you “create a life you love,” so I HIGHLY reccomend it to anyone who needs a little direction in their lives (and don’t we all??)
The Positivity Kit by Lisa Currie
This book is seriously so much fun. Take a look at some of the creative pages by clicking on the book cover to the left and you’ll see what I mean! It’s one of my all-time favorite creativity books & it truly does bring “instant happiness” as the cover suggests. If you’re feeling down about life (or down on yourself) at the moment, this is a perfect pick-me-up that will bring some joy and positivity into your day and remind you of all of the wonderful things in life. There are also some superb self-care activities in it that will boost your confidence and remind you that you’re doing the best you can.
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
I could go on for days about how great this poetry book is! I’ve honestly never read poetry that’s quite as deep, relatable, and inspiring. Rupi Kaur has a special and unique way of portraying those deep and dark feelings that we all have from time to time and giving us hope that things will get better. She definitely deserves all of the popularity and praise she’s been getting for her work. If you’re feeling misunderstood, lost, judged, heartbroken, or are simply in need of some inspiration and motivation to start feeling more hopeful and at peace with your life, than you’ll love this book.
Hand-lettering is extremely trendy these days and learning to do it is actually an incredibly profitable way to earn an income. People are willing to pay big bucks for hand lettered quotes, prints, cards, and vector fonts for their websites and social media graphics. I debated taking some online courses to learn how to do this but ultimately decided to take the less expensive route and buy this book, which has been incredibly beneficial. It’s full of tutorials and practice prompts and pages. If you’re wanting to learn this skill, buy this book!
