Battle of the Boxes: Which Subscription Box Under $10 Is Best?

This post contains affiliate links for two of the boxes, at no additional cost to you. Thanks for supporting the brands that keep The Determined Dreamer running!

I’m honestly so excited about this post! A couple of weeks ago I asked you guys (on Twitter) if you’d be interested in me testing out different subscription boxes under $10 and I got a resounding “yes!” I’ve always been intrigued by subscription boxes. There’s something so exciting about not knowing what cool products you’re going to be opening up. So, of course, I loved having a reason to buy 5 of them (in the name of blogging and for YOU guys, of course).

So, I spent a couple of days researching which boxes under $10 are the best and ultimately chose the following ones! I was pretty surprised by which boxes I ended up loving most- and I think you will be too!

1. Target Beauty Box ($7)

This Target Beauty Box is probably the box I was anticipating most! Not only do I love Target (who doesn’t!?), but I also knew a few of the products beforehand because they show you some of the stuff that’s going to be in your box. I’d been needing new mascara anyway so I knew the price of the mascara alone pretty much made the box worth the price. Add falsies, a full-size lipstick, makeup remover cleansing water, toothpaste, and perfume, and you definitely get your $7 worth!

I’d already been using Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water but I’d been using the kind in the blue bottle, not the pink one. I was able to try the pink one and come to the realization that it is NOT as good as the blue one (def sticking to the blue one). The pink one burned my eyes when I was removing my makeup. It was also fun to try out a new lipstick (love this one!) and try out falsies for the first time ever. I didn’t use the toothpaste because toothpaste with SLS in it causes canker sores, but I gave it to my husband and he was happy about it! Overall, I’d say I was pretty impressed with this box and it’s definitely worth the price!

2. Walmart Beauty Box ($5)

Okay, so this box REALLY surprised me. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from it. I mean… it’s WALMART. But if I’m being 100% honest, I was more pleased with this box than the Target one (I know, MAJOR *gasp*). This box included some products that I’d already been wanting to try and introduced me to some new ones that I’m now obsessed with! Those two aspects are pretty much all you could ask for in a subscription box.

This box was $2 cheaper than the Target one but held around the same amount of stuff (granted, some are a little less expensive of products). But honestly, these products are more on par with what I’d normally want to try out and buy. I loved the Jergen’s Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer (and used it all up before buying a new full-size of it), Rembrandt Whitening Boost Kit, Dove Exfoliating Polish, and the Whole Blends Shampoo & Conditioner. I have yet to try the mask, but I’ve tried another Donkey Milk mask and really liked it. The body wash wasn’t my favorite, but it’s good to have for traveling! Overall, I really loved this box (even more than the Target box) and will definitely continue getting it!

3. Graze Snack Box ($1)

This box is normally $13.99 for 8 snacks, but you get your first sample box (4 snacks) for free with $1 shipping. I wasn’t about to pass up getting 4 snacks for $1! That’s like… a crazy good deal. My husband and I both LOVED these snacks (especially the White Chocolate with Blueberry Toasts and the Sriracha Crunch). I’m not sure if 8 of these small snack-filled containers would be worth $13.99. But if you think about it, it just might be worth it since you’re able to try out new healthy snacks that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to try out.

I’m not sure if you can order these snacks in bulk or what (will definitely need to look that up), but I do think that getting our first box for $1 was DEFINITELY worth it! It would be cool if they offered some of the snacks in bulk for a cheaper price for when you find a snack you absolutely love. I’m not entirely sure that we’ll be getting this box for full-price in the future, but getting one box was totally worth it! Also, how adorable are those stickers that they included in the box!? Those are probably worth $1 on their own, ha!

4. Love With Food ($11.95)

This box is a little bit over the $10 price point, but I decided to get it to compare it to the Graze box. I was really excited about this one and I must say it 95% lived up to the hype! The only thing I’d say is that the products weren’t quite as innovative as I thought they’d be, but I definitely think it was worth the price. I saw a girl on Youtube unboxing a Love With Food box and hers had some dry mix smoothies (just add milk to make a smoothie) and some other products that I thought were extremely fun and creative! This box seemed a little lacking, but it may have just been an unusually boring box compared to their regular ones.

If you’re looking for a box that will introduce you to healthier, lesser-known snack options, this box might just be perfect for you! My husband and I will probably try this box again just to see if we’re more impressed next time. I also want to mention that for every Love With Food box you order, you’re donating at least one meal to a food bank in America. So, if you’re wanting to donate, this is a GREAT way to do it because you’re also getting something (especially if you’re on a budget).

Worth the price grade: A+ (because you’re donating to a great cause, as well)

5. Book of the Month ($15 for 2 books- one is FREE)

I’ve been a member of Book of the Month for 6 months now and have received 4 books (I skipped two months) and I can honestly say I love this subscription box! I love the price point, that it introduces me to trending new books, and that I can skip months or cancel my subscription anytime. I also feel like it’s motivated me to read more books. I always try to finish my book by the end of the month so that I can reward myself with a new book from Book of the Month!

The only real problem I have with it is that I can occasionally find some of the books that I’m able to choose from for cheaper on Amazon. Most of the time they’re more expensive or the same price on Amazon, but there have been a few times when I’ve skipped the month and just purchased the same book that was on Book of the Month from Amazon. The cool thing is that you can skip the month if that ever happens. But overall, it’s been a really fun “book club” type feeling membership to be a part of and I highly recommend it. If you use this link, you’ll get one book for free! Once you sign up and get your free book, you can also start sharing your personal link (like I just did) so that you get a free book every time someone uses your link!
